first things first you are going to need a work permit since you are under the age of 16. Do you have relatives in other parts of US. Recommend you possibly relocate. For example in Washington DC area unemployment is about 5%. Federal government is always hiring. Internships and all.

You might want to consider being a lieutenant in the US Army. It will completely fill 3 years of your life until the economy gets better. When you apply for any federal job, they must hire veterans first so you will get hired. Or you can apply to work at a major hotel chain. You can be a manager in 2 years and the job is fun.

We are having major problems all across the good ol USA, but the truth is there are many states with unemployment twice or three times as low as yours, if you are young and willing to relocate, I would truly think about that as an option , I really doubt your state, if it ever does recover will be in as good as shape as many will be in the future. Big decision here and some sacrifices but may be worth it, don't let present problems in one isolated area ruin your future .

Both of you should be looking for a job, anything that is legal. What about fast food, groceries and restaurants? Have you thought of cleaning houses or offices? A guy can make money doing odd jobs such as cleaning up lawns and garages. You can apply for welfare and will probably at least get something for your child. When hard times hit, we have to change our lifestyle and live on much less in every way. There is hope though as things will get better. Without income, I don't know of a way to keep your home. If you have relatives, see if they can help you out temporarily. Good luck and God Bless you.

Most massage therapists start their own business. I have heard that MI is the worst for everything because of their dependence on the car industry that is why they need massage more than ever to help deal with the stress. You could probably make money teaching massage classes to couples and to groups of people for fun and being creative in your approach to doing massage

There aren't any sure things in life. Just follow your passion.

LOL, I went to Livonia Stevenson! If you are interested in subbing you can just call the school district. I think that Livonia handles the subs within district. At least they did a few years ago when I was subbing there. Some districts use an outside company that manages the subs. You would probably want to register in a few districts so that you can get enough work and get your name out in a few places. You will also need to get a substitute teaching certification from the state. As long as you have at least 90 college credit hours you qualify. Unfortunately without a full teaching certificate you will not be able to do anything besides be a sub. I will let you know that finding a teaching job in MI is difficult, especially in the Detroit area b/c of the shrinking population.

Just check the website for the department of education in Michigan. WIth a college degree you can get a certificate to substitute teach in most any subject. Then just apply to short term substitute in school districts near you. If you get "in", the principals like you, you get more calls, especially if you are good at classroom management. Expect to make between $75 to $150 a day (no benefits) depending on the school district.
