are we going to see a flood of immigration into MEXICO from the UNITED STATES to take the jobs we have given away?does this make sense to anybody?just asking.

Yes!! I SOOOO agree! I like the way you put that!! It's happening everywhere!! There is NO holds-bar on letting them take our jobs!! I love the part where some of them say, 'It's jobs you don't want anyway." HOW DO YOU KNOW??? There ARE young people (full-legal blooded americans) that are coming up needing jobs and THOSE WERE it!! DUH!!! Don't get me started…it would NOT be pretty!

Michigan's jobs are very slow. What job field in Michigan is the most available? What field is always hiring - always needs employees..?

Most minimum wage (including fastfood) jobs, I'd imagine… if only for high employee turnover.

I don't know why I haven't been hired for jobs I apply to. I applied at mall jobs, Target, comcast, Att&t, Speedway gas station and other place. Some place say I'm over qualified, some place say I don't have enough experience. This is frastrating to me because I need a job. The job that I held in the past was at Dialogue marketing as Telephone Service Representative 2006, Eddie Bauer as a Cashier/ Sales Representative 2005-2006, Aegis Lending Mortgage Corp. as a Loan Officer 2004, Fedex as a Non Dot Handler/ Assistant Team Leader 2000- 2004, Diamler Chrysler as a Seasonal Temporary Parts Depot Line worker 1999, 7 Eleven as a Cashier/stock worker 1999, and at a citgo gas station changing car tires 1996. Plus I have some college course work in Accounting and Business Management. I'm 26 yrs old, intelligent, a hard worker, and a good leader. Plus I good at multi tasking and creative. So why am I not being hired? I don't know but it hurt my pride. I want to be hired now.

I know how you feel. You seem to be extremely qualified. A lot of it depends on luck and timing, and who you know. Not necessarily how qualified you are. Sad but true. Good luck in your search. You WILL find a job soon, as long as you keep trying and sending out those resumes. It also helps to arrive in person to deliver resumes. Sometimes that will work. The worst thing to do is feel like a defeatist. You need to keep your confidence up. I know it is hard when it seems like no one wants you, but believe it or not, that job is out there for you. Hang in there.

I work in a small shop that manufactures auto tooling, meaning the machines and parts to machines.

no jobs in the U.S will ever be the same, the companies want to move out of this country for the cheaper labor in asia, mexico, china, etc. The name of the game is they all want to make more money at the employee's expense and want to give the company heads bigger bonuses, it all started with the NAFTA agreement that everyone wanted except the unions and they warned everyone what would happen and it has. TOO LATE NOW!

Very high unemployment. More people leaving than arriving in this state. Why?

For years, Michigan's economy has revolved around the auto business. Now Ford , Chrysler and GM are in the pits, so those good paying jobs simply no longer exist.

That the people of Michigan don’t want to say the phrase “would you like fries with that” or “get me another bedpan this one is full”?

That it is tough enough competing with foreign companies, but the people of Michigan are rejecting competing with foreign labor in their own lands?

Hopefully, it is, unless McCain plans to train them for all of those high-tech jobs that are now heading overseas as well.

Scary to think that a guy like McCain is running for President when he's willing to tell the manufacturing sector that he's not going to fight for them. This nation cannot survive long if we don't make anything here.

State of Michigan:- - Michigan unemployment numbers for December 2008 were the highest for the month since 1984, according to data released Wednesday by the state’s Department of Energy, Labor and Economic Growth.

The unemployment percentage for December was *10.6 percent, up from 9.6 percent in November, according to DELEG. The Governor of Michigan stated 4 years ago "Elect me and you haven't seen anything yet". Is this what the Governor meant to say?

I agree that Michigan sucks as far as finding jobs. I graduated from WMU in Marketing and Sales and was unable to find anything that wasn't insurance or a scam of some sort. The state seems to be over-saturated with new entrants and not enough new job openings. Similarly with friends trying to obtain teaching positions, it took many applications and months of trying to get their foot in the door. Most simply found positions in the southern US.

Add in the economic downturn's effect on GM and Ford in the past couple of years and you lose a lot of MI's appeal.

i just got a job in a factory last week and got fierd today because of felonies how do i change this law

You would need to get at least one state legislator to introduce and sponsor a bill to get the law changed, and the bill would have to pass the Michigan House and Senate both, and then be signed into law by the governor. Unless you can make a compelling case as to why business should be required to hire people with felony backgrounds, though, you won't have a lot of luck.
